Description

A highly-educated American Indian population is vital for improving the economic sufficiency and prosperity of American Indian communities located within the state of Washington. To this end, Washington State, in collaboration with the American Indian Community and other private sector partners, established the American Indian Endowed Scholarship (AIES). This program provides educational scholarships on a competitive basis to high-achieving, low-income resident students who have close social and cultural ties to an American Indian tribe or community within the state. Recipients demonstrate academic merit and a commitment to serve the American Indian communities in Washington.

Geographic Criteria: Washington
Criteria / Requirements: • Demonstrate financial need based on a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
• Meet Washington State residency requirements for financial aid.
• Intend to enroll full-time as an undergraduate or graduate student at a participating public or private college or university in Washington State.
• Not pursue a degree in theology.
• Intend to use your education to benefit the American Indian community in-state.
• Not yet have received a total of five years of this scholarship.
